    Lanier LD015 no Electronic sort

Have a Lanier LD015(Ricoh 1515) that won't electronic sort anymore. Sort button lights up but won't sort.

Check the amount of memory. If it only shows 8MB, it cannot sort. If it used to work, the optional 32MB DIMM might have died.

Seeing as how the LD015 is nearly 20 years old, it might be time to replace the dinosaur.

Thank you for the input. Believe me have recommended to replace but customer is ready to retire too. Do you know if the DIm. Is still available? If so do you have a part # for it?

Can't find anything listed. Should be able to use the 64MB pn 1907 0022 or 128MB pn G331 5720. Different required different amounts of additional RAM. 32MB was the additional required for storing jobs in order to sort into sets.

I see in the Ricoh MP161 parts book a DIMM of 256k part number G332 5730 you think that would work?

It might. If the clock different, it might not. If it does recognize it, it may only recognize it as 128MB.

Those DIMM modules do have a tendency of failing.

Remove it and try reseating. Also a few techs have suggested rubbing it with an eraser.

Also there's a possibility that the controller has picked up a fault. Try swopping with a working unit it see if it resolves the issue.

Also with the age of the machine and the customer not willing to upgrade, they should be made fully aware that they are going to experience more problems and you won't be held accountable for that.
