    MP 7503 Bicu NvRAm replacement procedure after SC669-36

    Hi all.
    I have a machine whereby it keeps asking for web roll to be replaced even after reset and new roll installed and also giving SC669-36. There is a tech bulletin for this RD223061 and i have followed and made sure firmware was all up to date before opting to replace the bicu nvram.

    There is another tech bulletin RD223057 which is a service manual correction and states at step 12 to enter the id number for the new nvram and to ask your supervisor how to obtain the number and where to put it. I have raised this issue with Ricoh but getting nothing out of them apart from pointing me towards these two bulletins.

    I understand that the Nvram runs out of space for this counter and that a new one needs to be installed. I have replaced the bicu nvram and besides the fact that when i enter SP it's in japanese i have then entered 2-EU in SP5131 and then guessued that i had to enter the serial number in SP5811-01 after entering via 143 SP but my japanese translator says Failed to set.( i got to this step after reading another article on copytechnet entitled

    Ricoh 454ex with Japanese after nvram install

    I just wish that the techinical bulletin for this issue was more informative telling me what number and where to put it, and that i was actually getting meaningful support from Ricoh but i am not!

      Can't you just re-install the old nvram and backup nvram data, then put in the new one and perform the restore procedure?

          It gives SC195 fuser setting error. I've tried rewriting the nvram back to no avail. I believe there are some missing steps in the SM and the subsequent update to the SM instructions. Thanks

              I do recall dealing with japanese service mode after swapping NV rams but I can't recall the exact steps anymore.
              I think that part with the serial number has to math with another serial number, it's not just one SP (I might confuse it with the ID) - perhaps the factory non default page/birth sheet can give you a hint about the SPs you need to edit.

              A self printed non default page would also be great / sometimes it gives you more informations than the factory sheet. If your machine isn't operational you might be able to retrieve one from another, working one.

                  the sp 990-"non-standard" might suffice, however, usually when you invert the nv-ram it goes to japanese, and more....

                      By reset do you mean the PM counter or doing SP 1902-001? Only 1902-001 will clear the message.

                      Are you positive that the arm for the sensor is on the proper side of the web?

                      If it is intermittent, one other thing I have encountered is the leads for the web end switch rubbing on the head of a hex head screw and occasionally shorting or leaking to ground.

                          Last time I reverted an NV Ram it was on a AP3800C printer - counter wen't down to zero afterwards

                          We also used generic NV Rams or ELNEC programmers for fixing things - I'm not shure if ricoh does preparations on new NV Rams to avoid the japanaese phenomenon.

                              Thanks for the replys guys. Ricoh tech support is not what it used to be.. Still waiting to speak to a human!
                              SP1902 is reset correctly and the arm intact. After installing new web a few days to a week later we get fusing web near end again and interspersed with SC669-36 which is linked to the part of nvram that keeps the count for the web roll.
