    mpc 4504ex sc220-04

I have one with an SC220-04. It is a mpc 4504ex. I have replaced the laser unit and IPU board. Checked the serial number as per another post and it was ok. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks.

yes I checked those connections as well. Plus I did firmware update. They called in saying they had a sc899. So I got the firmware and went. When I got there and turned it on the sc220-04 came up. I did firmware just hoping.... but no luck. Went back the next day with laser unit and ipu board. Still same issue. I am pulling it in the shop tomorrow.

Last step in the service manual, Replace the harness between LDB (Synchronizing detector board) and IPU.

I'm not shure but you can get a laser related SC code if somebody screwed around with the ground plate contact of the ITB cleaning unit. Not shure if SC220-04 can be the result but I'd take a look at the ITB + ITB Cleaning assembly.

Edit: take a look at the transfer roller + contacts as well

I pulled the copier to the shop and started to look at it. I replaced the bcu and the copier came ready but eventually threw up a sc995-03 which is incompatible board. I switch eprom and same result. I tried changing serial number but it always says fail. It soled the sc220-04 but now this code. I am using a bcu out of a mp4504 and its not a mp4504ex. The parts manual says they are the same. I called Hytech and they even said they were the same but they do not know why the serial number wont change. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks

Ok I found the problem with everything. The eprom on the BCU was causing all the issues. Cleared the sc220-04 and serial number reset issues. Once I installed the new eprom and set destination and serial number the machine came ready and copied. I had to set paper sizes again and now everything is working. A nice way to end the week. Everyone enjoy your weekend.

just dealt with a 899-00 error today. for future reference that is a corrupt print job. clear all print jobs on all PCs. disconnecting the network cable beforehand. and reboot copier after you cleared the ques. then reconnect network cable.
