I had a very smart customer who removed the actuator to supress the waste toner message. Few weeks later the machine started to make banging noises

There's a difference between smart and clever. Doing that was the latter but most definitely not the former.

        IMHO it was neither.

Late to the party on this one.

As others have mentioned, you can't turn off the waste message and as a tech, you absolutely don't want to do that because there are a lot of things that can go really bad if you do like backed up waste toner pipes and augers (Changing one of those is an absolute pain) and generally making a huge mess inside the machine. I have seen where machines will give a false WTB full message and it is because there is a mess inside the machine. Pull the bottle out and run the vac and hope for the best or you will get to tear into it even more to clean the WTB full sensor.

For my stops on these, I have gotten into the habit of checking the bottle even tho it is a customer replaceable item and considered a supply item. You do not want them to get crammed full and I will either replace them if the customer has a spare or dump some out if they don't and the bottle is close to being full. I have had too many issues allowing a bottle to go full and either making a mess or backing the system up.

I have idiot customers who take the bottle out and shake it to rid the message.
This overfills the bottle and as others have said backs up the waste toner system...kills the PCDU and toner hopper augers and it's a huge stoopid chunk of time out of your days replacing parts.
If the message "keeps coming back" be careful coz they may just be shaking the bottle.
