[Jamming] Ricoh MPC3004 text is squeezed

Ricoh MPC3004 occasionally paper jams (code 018) - the text is squeeze or the page is folded in a "Z". Most of the pages that will come out have the text squeezed like in the attachment. The start margin of the print starts too late, after 1 cm it squeezes the text and ends correctly. Sensors and rollers cleaned. I do not have much experience in Ricoh, but in Canon such a fault was most often caused by a hard-working registration sensor, less often by the clutch.

You might need to strip the fuser and clean the entrance blade.

Prints look a bit faded from the scanned image too could need new development unit

Or a good clean of the optics and a calibration

I would say that something is causing the paper to be moving too slow when it initially gets to the PTR. most likely cause is the transport roller on the first paper feed unit or the drive for said roller. Once the trail edge of the paper leaves that roller it comes up to speed and the print is no longer squeezed.

The same thing happens from second paper deck and multi tray. Fuser entry plate is clean.

All sheets of paper except the duplex pass through the first transport roller.

Perhaps the fuser sleeve has transport issues. I'd try another fuser. In case the issue is well reproduceable you can open the right door before the sheet enters the fuser and check if the image looks OK.

Before this incident, did the device suffer from any Fusion Unit issues?
When you comment on the "jam in Z" between what areas is the paper located at that moment? If it is before or during the admission of the folio into the Fuser Unit, it could be a problem with the Registration Rollers. I would try changing the orientation of the paper and check if the fold returns to the same position.

FYI, J018 is lead edge of the paper is late reaching the Fusing Entrance Sensor which is not in the fusing unit. It is at the top of the guide plate that holds the PTR.

Problem solved. Transfer belt was working hard. There was too much waste toner in cleaning module. Client said that 1 week before toner was overflow inside waste toner box. They clean box but toner was stuck in cleaning module of transfer belt. Now working fine.

Good information. Thanks for following up with the fix.

I'd check the recycling for the PCDU's, just in case they are also blocked.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                      Hit it.
