Ricoh MP 2554 installed a fax memory card.

    Hi eveyone

I had a customer that uses the Lan fax driver to send their faxes from computer. they have some big files and that would cause it to run out of memory. So here at my office. I bought a expanded memory card and install it. Now manual says when it is installed can do 4400 pages. So, I try it and getting same problem can watch percentage go down and the says running out of memory. Is there a way to check memory on board and is there a setting I need to change in order for it to see memory card.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I tried to search on the SM, but for an in-depth search it took me too long, try with sp 7-836-001, display the total size available for the controller (provided it is shared) otherwise try with sp990 and see if you find it something

but if the customer has to send the holy bible via fax, shouldn't he send it with ups first?....(LOL)

Like it or not, large fax jobs are going to be with us for some time to come.

A few years ago, I had a law office (with a fax server, but still used POTS lines) whose faxes frequently (as in daily) exceeded 100 pages. Their IT person told me they had some that were closer to 400 pages.

It just depends on what type of customer you're dealing with.

About that 4400 pages provided by the 64MB of additional memory on the fax board, is it by chance buffer memory between the fax modem and the system page memory. If so, it might be that LAN Fax is sending pages faster than they can be transferred to the fax board and therefore filling the system page memory. Might require contacting Ricoh to find out.

i check well the SM of fax board, actually, it shows you how to install it, but I haven't found an SP anywhere that can verify that it has actually been recognized (if not by using it), perhaps there is something under sp-990-report

I wonder, did you order from Ricoh or what sounded like the right memory card from elsewhere to save money?
