Dotted copy on ricoh aficio 1045

The copy had vertical lines as a result of the charger roller getting dirty. I did replace the drum cleaning blade but had to clean the charger roller before installing the unit back to the machine. After cleaning the charger roller with a dump piece of cloth, I dried it and then assembled the unit appropriately. After making a copy, the 1st one was perfect but the other copies had black irregular dots all over the print copy. What can i do to avoid this occurence?

    Vac out recyling

Strip the drum unit, vac out recycling section, make sure seals are not bent, powder drum with toner. Its always better to replace all drum unit parts as a set..clean charge and cleaner and brass bushings and ..be carefull what you say its a very sensitive area

you may need to replace the cleaning unit seal, also check for spray from the ends of the cleaner box rotating scraper.

The charge roller line was caused by the sparking tiny holes on the drum, avoid using damp cloth to clean the drum, it will sparking to the drum, you will notice tiny marks on the drum, and cause you more dots on the copy. Only solution is to replace the drum.

              Just a thought.

I recall that the complete PCU for the AF1045 was actually cheaper than the cost of the drum and cleaning blade (!) In the UK.

It must be worth checking the cost and changing the whole unit if cheaper?

The charge rollers on the 5635 always got dirty far too early in the PM cycle. After replacing the drum, charge and blade, also replace the charge roller cleaning brush with the updated G7902329 brush for the MP 3500 series machines. The surface of this brush does a much better job of cleaning the charge roller and allows you to get more life out of it.
