These machines seem to be extremely particular on the size and brand of the card being used.

It may sound a bit elementary, but find yourself a place online to get a bunch of 1 GB or smaller name brand cards, and stash 'em somewhere until needed.

About a year ago, I got a dozen Sandisk 512 MB cards for about $3.00 each. These work just fine in any Ricoh that uses SD cards.

Also, Ricoh promotes the use of Panasonic SD card formatting software. I couldn't find the specific link but here is one given out by the SD association. There is a difference between formatting using your desktop OS and SD specific formatting tools.

Yeah some ricoh's are a bit pickey with SD cards - it's important to prepare them with the panasonic tool like teebee stated. Plus some machines don't like cards with >1GB and some don't like cards of specific brands. I never had any issues with sandisc or toshiba cards with 128/256/ or 512 meg.

out of curiosity did you shut down the copier before putting in the sd card then power up? this causes problems for the copier and controller bd if not.
Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.
