    Mpc 2500/3000 mpc 3500 firmware

    Hey guys (and gals),
We have just ordered 3 color copiers, mpc2500,mpc3000 and a mpc3500( B230, B237, B222) with very low serial numbers which means the firmware is probably not up to date on any of them. In an attempt to prevent related service troubles I sure would like to have the latest versions to load when they arrive.
If anyone has this handy, and it's not too much trouble, I would be grateful for them sent to me by email. Thanks in advance.
Let me know if I can be of help to you.

I can see posts to this thread is over 2yrs to date.
I am in a jam for this weekend and have machine to deliver for this week.
I requested firmware upgrade for ricoh mpc3500 from vendor and it seems like they forgot to send me complete files.
As it stands I have five files and seems like missing the main activating file or bin extension.
I see you were kind enough to email it to first post.

Is there any chance doing the same for this weekend?
              Thanks in advance
And hope all have a great memorial weekend

There is no activating file or bin extentions. Are your files .fwu files, or .rfu files? If so, do the remote firmware upgrade using the .rfu files, and use the SD card with the .fwu files.

                  Thanks for reply

All five files are with fwu extension
I am using a 2gig sd CARD formatted it to fat 16
Created a root directory of romdata, subdirectory of b222, copied 5 files in b222 folder.
Insert the sd card in the unit and get a sc819 error.
Now any other help will be appreciated.
BTW: do not have access to files doing a remote upgrade.

Also can not find any smaller sd card at this time, and been told by the vendor that they have done upgrade w/ 2 gig card

EDIT: problem w/ unit is when it is idleing it freeze and have to do a power shut down, or sometimes it freeze right on first screen upon power on.

2gig is too big, hence the 819. Controller board could also be fried.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                    Hit it.

besides the above symptoms, copier works fine.
After removing sd card, on power on functions the way it should.

Well anyone can send me rfu files, I can proceed that way

Try putting the files directly into the romdata folder and deleting the b222 folder. I have had issues with the sub folders being used. What brand of SD card are you using? The machines don't seem to like no-name or knock-off brands. If it is a well known brand name card then then you might want to try a different brand. I will post back if I can think of anything else.

                          Thanks guys
I really appreciate responding in a wkend like this one.

as you all may know 2 gig is the smallest one I can find off the shelf.
Looking through ebay for smaller, but will take a few days to get in.
using a patriot memory for now, will look to a sandisk.
Try to partition it smaller size to get away, but no such option available.
                          Thanks again
I also tried it in root directory of romdata w/ same result
Going to try a few options today, any more tip will be greatful.

I think TonerMunkeh is correct as far as the controller being the issue, but I've used 2g cards exclusively with no problem. Here is Global Knowledge Base answer regarding the SC819 on this model....

                            --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                            SC819 occurs
                            [Symptom]

                            SC819 occurs.

SC670 and 991 are also logged on multiple occasions.

                            SC819: Kernel stopped

                            • SCS process ended for some unknown reason. gwinit process ends (gwinit specification), kernel errors and stops (kernel specification).
                            • In the case of system processes using too much RAM. In the case of the CPU cache error TRAP occurring.
                            • If a mismatch is detected inside the OS.

                            [Cause]

                            Controller board

Removing and replacing the HDD and controller temporarily restores the device with copy, fax and printer functions all normal but after turning the power off and on a few times and awakening from preheating, the problem reoccurs at the Please Wait screen (remote diagnostic device error also occurs).

                            [Resolution]

Replace controller. After replacing, initialize and write the RC Gate certificate.

Replacing the HDD does not solve it (this is a temporary fix so the address book can be backed up and restore performed after replacing the HDD)
                            ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Found a tech bulletin in regards to SD card size, turns out 2G is the maximum supported

Thanks again everyone for being helpful

                              Wow who would have think
Considering low memory sd cards are gone to lala land for a few yrs, you think they would upgrade interface on these boards to accept larger sd cards.
My problem was the size of sd card
Took a sd card from another machine size 32 meg cleaned and loaded the firmware, proceeded to upgrade with no problem.
