    Ricoh 4055ASP Dotted Black Line

    Hiya,

what do you guys think could be causing this black dotted line on the very top of each page printed by a Ricoh 4055ASP (see attachment, can't show whole A4 due to privacy)
I'd replace the PCU/D but this has been done just about 25k ago together with the fusing unit and transfer unit

Problem just started today. Could it be faulty PCU/D again?
    Machine is at 525.000 pages.

    Thanks

    Best regards from germany

Looks a bit like overtoning, are you running original toner in this machine?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Perhaps there's a little dustball between the drum and cleaning blade. Guess it should be fine after cleaning he drum/charge roller/blade + waste toner auger area.
If this line is only visible after printing stuff with some coverage it could also be the fuser sleeve - the defect should be easily visible on the sleeve if you take a look.

Yes, always used original parts and toner.

Ok, thanks for the info, I will disassemble the PCU/D and have a look. And before that I check the sleeve on the fuser and try to print with coverage/non coverage - good idea.

well... if your problem its the privacy...you could also attach a counter page! so i have to guess.
I'm betting on the film on the sleeve, which has lost its non-stick coating at one point (as long as the page is facing how I image it)

The problem is that the machine is quite far away - and sadly I only have been sent examples that contain internal info that I obviously cannot share.
I'm often there but I wanted to get some opinions from the experts and cool people here first

The page is coming out vertically (portrait) and the line goes horizontally, so it could be a roller / sleeve. Which would be wierd because it has been renewed just 25k pages ago.
I'll have a look. Thank you all. Much appreciated. I'll update this thread when I figure out more.

From what I can see on you thumbnail it appears to be the cleaning blade or paper lint build up in the or around the waste toner coil creating a lint bunny that is making contact with the drum surface, I have seen that a lot with paper that has a high lint content.

I didn't read correctly that the fuser was changed, it's almost certainly what slimslob says

Just to update this thread, we ended up ordering a whole new PCU/D and did get a ~80% something refund for the defect part from ricoh (as it run for a short period).
Nobody would have paid spending hours looking for the cause and opening up the new PCU/D hence we opened an RMA case.

                  Thanks everyone !

Bravo, that's how it's done, you ask for help, but then for fairness you come back here to explain how it was solved....if only everyone did this!
