    Paper Curl Jams MP 5000

Is it me or do these newer models put more curl in paper than before. Have had multiple customer sites with MP 4000/5000 with paper curl and getting jammed in the finisher due to paper folding over right before the finisher entrance. LTRR works fine. Tried 24lb. paper, same thing. Lowered fusing temp. Sanded the hell out of the bridge unit. Is this happening elsewere. Thanks

I have over 50 units in my territory and never had a problem. Occasionally I saw it when the paper was fed curl up instead of curl down.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a set of mylars to be fitted to the bridge unit dedpending on the configuration? If so, have all of these been fitted?

Check the Bridge unit / finisher installation instructions.

Yes, there are two blue plastic guides that are to be installed with the bridge unit to help guide the paper into the bridge unit. They are easily overlooked on setup. Without them, the machine will dogear and jam. Remove the bridge unit and look at the exit area of the machine, they should be snapped in place just below the exit roller.

thanks for the info. I do not recall seeing the plastic guides. Thats probably the problem. We made some mylar pieces to help guide the paper.

I was talking B.S! There is no mention of mylars on this machine. Some older models did require this.

Are these machines on hard floors or carpet? I wonder if the heavier machine could be sinking into the carpet more than the finisher causing poor alignment? (Clutching at straws here!)
