    af5560c Power supply

We have an 5560 in the field that have toasted 2 Power supply boards in one year, and they won't come for free huh*

Is itsomething I should now about, bulletin or something about this.
Or is it just our machine that is strange somehow.

I think it has produced aprox 1.3 million copies or something?
Would be greatfull if someone else now about this?

I have several of these machines in high volume areas and never had a problem. Power for these machines in the U.S. is 120V 20A 60Hz - so its probably a different power supply for your machines. Even so, I wouldn't expect any problems. Sounds like what you need is a high quality surge supressor.

Never had a problem yet with any power supply on 5560 or 3260 but you should consider to check the customer AC line and as you was advised a good power surge protector.
An AC line monitor is expensive but if you can rent one I'll install it for a week to monitor the line at the customer...you can be surprised by the result. Good luck.

Search other threads on power monitors...

Our office invested in a power line monitor and it has already paid for itself - not counting the priceless looks from a customer screaming how bad our copier was when we pulled out the power anomaly logs.

Cost us about $600 USD from ImageSupplyService.com - worth every penny.

and YES it will be a good investment...even just to prove to your boss that you are doing your job properly...
Most of the time this is the only use for this tool...my customers never listened and never fixed their power problems...and of course the sales guy was on their side and after my ass...

If it is in the customer line I would be afraid of the darkness, it is a power plant. They should have a perfect electrical installation?

Just the opposite - probably the worst power. All kinds of switching transients in there

We have aprox 120 mfp machines within this area, in 3 years I only know about a power supply in an af2035 and 1 in a mp3045.
But the 3260c has consumed one power supply board and the 5560c has killed 2 power supply boards in one year 200v "AZ25 0025". We have an Af2090 next to the 5560 and it is working fine, never that kind of problems

In sweden the power plants produce electricity, brings it out on the net and then buys it back. I would be suprised if they have heavy spikes related to what they do? They have loads of other office equippment, faxes, printers, and they are also working fine. In most cases

I can see if I can get a line tester, but they probably cost a penny or two

                    Thanks for the info!

I think it's worth to take a look at this during PM to avoid that expensive trouble. On the other hand it's worth to report that, especially if that was an issue on more than one machine.

I have replaced the frame bracket holding the gears for the jam knob on several machines in the last few months - seems to be a growing problem. Gears were chipped or completely shattered after the pin holding the idler bent. Could this shrapnel be getting into the connectors on that harness and shorting things out?
