DIMMs... Can we use any brand?

    Hi All,

Just working on a Ricoh MPC2800 that has a faulty DIMM (actually SODIMM). Ricoh are asking something extraordinary (price wise) for a replacement so I was hoping if someone could help me out. Not only that, the ETA on a DIMM is going to be a while as well.

the current DIMM reads as a Hynix branded PC4200 (DDR2 533) 1GB stick.

Because the PC4200 are not the "standard" anymore, am i able to use another brand of the same spec or of higher spec with the copiers?

any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. thank you.

Boss Buys all his Memory for our printers and such from
    Can Ram
Memory Experts International - CANRAM copier memory, printer memory, fax memory, pc memory and copier cabinets

However I'm willing to bet that

    Newegg.com - G.SKILL 1GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Laptop Memory Model F2-4200PHU1-1GBSA - Laptop Memory
    The G.SKILL F2-4200PHU1-1GBSA is 1GB DDR2-533/PC2-4200 200 pin DDR2 SO-DIMM module. $13

    would do the trick

I don't know if the machine will step down a higher-speed RAM, but you should be fine with any PC4200. That Newegg memory should work fine, as it perfectly matches your specs.

As long as the specs are the same you shouldn't have any problem.
