    ricoh aficio 400

I went out to this copier twice today both times had problems with the operation panel where as I could not reset the screen. The first time the copier screen said Ready yet the print light was red. The job recall light on the button was on however I could not turn it off at the button or get any button to work. The 2nd time I went out was because from the 1st time till the 2nd the toner hopper decided to quit working. After replacing the toner hopper I went to make a copy and the printer screen was on. The copier is not set up to print nor does it have the print buttons on the operation panel. I could press the interupt button and briefly get the main screen to come up but immediately go back to the printer screen. Both times the only way I could get the copier back to normal mode was to turn the copier off/on. My thoughts are either the operation panel or the SCU PCB???
    Any thoughts appreciated; Thanks!!!

    That's.... really odd.

You say the machine isn't set up for printing? Does this mean a Printer/Scanner kit isn't installed? Or the customer just doesn't use the Printer function

You can also try prising off the printer button (Or where the Printer button would lie) and checking the switch down there isn't stuck?

As that machine is very old I would try checking if the NvRam has a battery on it, if so change it, any cash register battery with the same voltage willl do.
