    infotec 3090 noise jamming fuser

    hey all
got a problem with a 3090, its jamming just after the fuser on the group of 4 rubber belts. also everytime it does jam it makes a loud grinding noise from the fuser area. it doesnt make this noise on warm up or if a page does manage to get through. i did manage to get a run out of it by slightly lifting the fuser exit gate aswell as the gate covering the belts, but this causes the pages to get folded, not sure if this actually solved the grinding/jamming issue but it may be connected. Any ideas would be a big help
    cheers

Have you tried output mode to try and narrow where the noise is from? And are the belts you refere to the transport belts - paper exit?
Whats the Pm schedule like e.g. bearings, hot and press rollers? A lot of engineers only change bearings when they fail not when they do a fuser change so they run over there expected service life.

If you can narrow down the section from where the noise is coming from it will help you a lot

      thanks for the reply
the only problem with the noise is that is only happens when a jam occurs, meaning there is no noise when parts are turning without copying. fuser has just been rebuilt. if it was a bearing i would guess the noise would happen alot of the time not just at jams. nothing else is at its pm life yet

Have you tried 5802 - printer free run then?

Makes a base engine free run
        [0~1/
        0/1]
        0: Release free run mode
        1: Enable free run mode

Return this setting to off (0) after testing
        is completed.
        Finisher connectors should be
        disconnected and duplex mode should
        be off.

As its only doing it when you copy, try it without paper i.e. it wont jam as theres no paper and try and see if it does the grinding sound without the paper. It possibly sounds like theres too much pressure on the fuser drive causing it to lock or slow down but without any error codes.

yeh fuser pressure could be a factor, jams in exactly the same position every time without anything blocking it. is there anyway to reduce the pressure as all i saw on it was screws locking it down which creates the pressure
