    MP9000

hey guys, i have a mp 9000, i needed to do a firmware update because it was 14 stages behind. So i Read through TSB 46 and followed ricohs instructios on this, once the engine and system firmware was finished and completed no problem, i shut down and booted up the machine. All that happens is i get the famous "please wait" screen for an endless amount of time and nothing i have tried will get it running. I have booted with doors open, no HDD, no periphials, no nic, etc... I figure i either fried the system card with the update or scrambled the firmware. Perhaps the engine didnt get updated and only the system did. Is there a way to recover back to the last known firmware and hence allow the machine to be bootable again? or do i have to get a new system card?

Did you update all the firmware, or just the engine and system.

Following Ricohs instructions in TSB 46, it says ust to do the engine and system together, and then power down and reboot without update card inserted to make sure everything works, thats what i did but it doesnt work.

I did a the same thing on a MP1100 and the printer option disappeared. Apparently your turn the machine into a pro series. You have to update all the firmware.

If you upgrade to the new firmware, either install the Engine 1st or do the Engine and system together. If the system is done first the machine will lock out!! and the only way to recover this is to borrow the system card from a machine that hasn't been upgraded, fit it to the dead machine and upgrade the engine firmware. Then swap the system cards back and the machine will boot ok.
When the engine and system firmware are upgraded you will notice that you lose the printer/scanner options so these must also be upgraded to the Pro versions.

I'm sure the recovery is Yellow Clear 1,4,3 then 'C' three times until it beeps then machine will revert back to what firmware was last on machine

Do you know where the system Firmware is located? is it on the BCU board itself or the system card?

Imind, do you think what tonermunkeh is saying would work with borrowing a card from another machine that is not upgraded would allow me to upgrade the engine and in affect make the pair match and allow the machine to boot?

You just need to order a new system sd card not any boards. I know it happened to me. You did the procedure right but either something went wrong or you have another problem. I would just get a new system sd card and try it again.
