Also make sure the mag roller is clean, dirty mag roller can give grey background. And the bushings the charge roller sits in- are they clean?
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

The mag roller should be shiny silver. Toner film on the mag roller, or the charge roller making poor contact with the spring plates inside the drum unit are the usual culprits.

If you just replaced the drum, I would lean toward the charge roller contacts.
Don't take that toner with me!
