What could cause power on jams if the customer has an MPC 4500 with out a bridge unit? It had 75 power on jams in logging data but the last recorded jam is from OCT 20th.

Power on jams occur when a door is opened during operation, technically not a paper jam. I would check all covers, try giving a shake to each one while it's printing. Most likely too much play between the interlock and an actuator or a flaky interlock itself.Comment

Fearless, when you say right side door switch do you mean the front door switch on the right side or the switch for the right side door?Comment

The switch for the right side door, the large door that opens to access the paper path, fuser, etc.Don't take that toner with me!Comment

I have more problems with the finisher door interlock switches anyway - now, the MP4500 (no C) is going to be the right side door switches. Another possibility is the customer not clearing a jam completely - some machines register that as a power on jam when they close the door instead of continuing with the old jam code.73 DE W5SSJComment

I guess you missed the part where he says there is no bridge unit. As a side note, I wish those that post their problems would follow up with what actually fixed the issue. Many do, but most don't.Comment

On the original post the customer wasn't complaining about the jams I just noticed it when I was there. I haven't been back and no service call since I was last there. I was just looking for possible causes in case I had to go back. Thanks for the replies and sorry for not updating.
Merry Christmas.Comment

Thanks Hunt Bear, I wasn't specifically singling you out. I was just venting in general terms because sometimes people have problems with many different solutions that are offered and it helps to know the one that worked so we can add it to our own knowledge base. Thanks again and Merry Christmas.Comment

Went back to this copier this week and there was only 3 jams in the last 8k copies. I think it must have been dusty registration on vertical sensors.Comment
