    Color Registration Error - LD328c

Yada yada color registration won't pass so I assume I have to go in and set it manually. I got them setup pretty close for both the 600 and 1200dpi. But it still won't pass the line positioning or color registration. I'm wondering if I missed a step though because my values are way off from their original values. Don't I have to home the motors first or something? Also I think their is a rough line positioning test and a fine line positioning test. Not sure what is exactly what in the SPC mode. Any help or advice is welcome, thanks.

If the machine won't pass a Line Position adjustment it probably needs one of 3 things:

New transfer belt - Lines, scratches, and spots confuse the ID sensors.

Clean the upper belt roller - the belt is clear, so the sensors can see the caked toner on the roller

Clean the sensors - Seen them get dirty / coated - use alcohol

Plus when entering the Laser beam pitches, you may want to run 2995 to reset the mirrors. and or set them to both extremes (127/-128) them to 0 to loosen them up, then let the LP adjust set them.

Thanks guys i'll try some of these things. That top roller in the transfer was pretty dirty now that I remember. Let me also add that this whole mess started when I swapped out transfer units. When I went to put the original back in it wouldn't pass and was all out of wack. I was trying to rule out the transfer as the problem for some background grainy issues. Anyways i'll try these things and see if I can get it to pass again. Thanks again i'll keep ya updated.

Other things to try, new DVUs and PCUs. Are you getting 01010101 or 07070707?

And if none of the above will do good...

...like it did in my case, strip the thing down to reach the polygon laser mirrors and clean the edges of the two mirror-disks with something very smooth and dust-free - that helped me out.

You can tell when the skew mirrors have got stuck due to the colours being separated out by about 1cm each.

Thanks guys I got it to pass. I cleaned that top roller in the transfer as well as blew out the 3 ID sensors. I also used the birth papers and put the 600/1200 values back to factory. Looks like everything came back quite nicely.
