If you've replaced the drum unit it wont be the charge roller as it comes in the drum unit. Are you getting it on copies and prints/just when copying?

The reason I ask is dusty/dirty optics can cause coloured lines.

The dev as mentioned previously is a possibility but on experience the dev can last ages.

This fault is normally the cleaning spiral in the drum gets too full and subsequently starts to contaminate the charge roller, is the customer printing full colour and dense prints? if so you will get this problem, there has been replies to this kind of problem on other posts. i have got around this by turning off process conrol for the particular colour and adjusting the dev bias so that the prints are not so dense (last resort). When you get the issue again take the cleaning blade section off the pcu housing and you will see that its full (causing your problem)
Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential

We have seen this condition of the cleaning/collection spiral or coil being full of toner in the areas where there is heavy toner coverage and it was suggested to us to cut off the plastic shaft in the center of the collection coil (leaving about 1" on the non-op end where the coil is attached to the shaft) and gently work the cut shaft out of the coil and discard. This allows much more toner to be removed by the collection coil.

Ricoh has posted a bulletin on this. Check RTB# RB230061 or do the following:

                    SYMPTOM
                    Horizontal black or colored lines

                    Cause
                    Dirty charge roller.
Note: The charge roller gets dirty easily when continuous prints are made of images that span a wide area and have a high coverage rate.

                    Solution
Use the recommended SP described below, which will make it more difficult for the charge roller to get dirty.
                    Note:

These settings will change the timing that the machine performs engine process control (both on the AT-C1 and AP-C1).

This is a tentative countermeasure, and may not solve the symptom completely.

Use these settings if the customer prints images that span a wide area and have a high coverage rate.

Change the following SP modes (make a note of previous values just in case):

                    SP3-224-10 to 10
                    SP3-224-16 to 20
                    SP3-511-07 to 20
                    SP3-511-08 to 20
                    SP2-512-01 to 5
                    SP3-237-01 to 10

                    Note:
Potential side effects after changing these SP values: If the user constantly prints out images that have a wide area, the frequency of process control will increase. Also, the time needed for process control will increase from 5 seconds to 10 seconds. As a result, productivity will decrease.

What about the charge roller cleaning roller. Over here i am finding that they wear out preaty quick especially at the ends. You can neither touch or clean these rollers and becouse of them you have to replace the whole drum unit, when all that's needed is thet Ricoh supplies the charge roller and cleaning roller as an assembly.

I've always though the problem was the coil running too slowly! Surely if the they simply changed the gearing ratio to the coil it would eject toner more quickly and solve the problem?!

But, good idea! will try on an old unit! Extending the coil would have the same effect.

When you look at the unit, notice how little room there actually is for the coil to accommodate the waste toner. The plastic shaft takes up most of the space. By removing the center plastic shaft for most of the length of the coil there is at least more room for the toner.
