    Scan to Folder help please

    Hello all,

I'm new on this forum, and also new to ricoh/infotec machines. I have them arround for some 5 years, but only using basic functions like copy, fax, network print, and in some scan over the network using adobe pro or abbyfinereader software.

But after some time, colaborators are asking more and more, to have the scanner function, and for that its necessary to buy more software, so I started to look a bit more and found that the copiers can scan to a folder over the network, and thats what I need.

I made some research and installed the smartdevice monitor for admin and set up all printers with the correct SMB and IP configs via WIM, but now I also found almost my printers don't have the option to choose the network folder in the smartdevice monitor!

Here are some of Aficio machines we have:

    -1045
    -2045
    -2232c
    -2020d

Only the 2232c is working good now, but in the others I don't know if the best way is using scanrouter or if there is any other way to have the scan to folder option?

    Thanks for any help.

1035 and 2035 can only scan using scanrouter lite software. 2232 can scan to smb etc, I'm not 100% sure about 2020 but if I remember correctly it's scanrouter also
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

The 2020 needs ScanRouter as well; no SMB scanning,

I installed scanrouter lite 2.0.6.0 in windows server 2003 and when configuring a new destination user, selecting delivery type to windows file, I browse for the folder but I can't add a network folder for example, only C: and D: drive are availabel!?

I tried to map a drive but also no luck.

I installed the scanrouter on my datacenter, but I wanted to install the software on the management server and scan to a folder in the datacenter...

PS: my management server is a windows 2008 server and scanrouter installed and works great except for this minor glitch
If I can' scan trough network folder in the server 2008 I have to use the scan router on the datacenter itself...

When installing Scanrouter V2 Lite did you install the software to run as a service?
If so, you should be able to scan to a mapped directory.

Installing and selecting either of the other options (Start from Program folder, Launch at Startup) only allows scans to be stored locally.

I also tried to input \\server... network path but no luck.

try ip address instead of name to see if it is a DNS problem.
              example: \\192.168.0.100\scans

Are you saying to install the copiers twain drivers on the server?

You will need to install the twain driver on every pc that will be utilizing twain scanning.

Scanrouter is installed in my Server ant its only storing the files.
No other pc's are used, scanrouter works whell in the server, but the problem here is the scanrouter software not seeing network folders or PC's when we select "save as windows file", only the hard drive is showed.

When you first set up scanrouter, did you input the password to the server into scanrouter? It has to have admin rights to see folders. Also, it wasn't clear in your post but you need to create the folder(s) first on the pc, you can't create them from within scanrouter.

I'm not installing it on a user PC, but in server with win 2003R2 datacenter (I tried in win 2008std but same result) and I put admin user and pass, so I don't know why it don't let me see network!

PS: beside not selecting network folders, all is working great with scanrouter.
I have a domain based on win 2008 EBS server.

The way I always understood it from Ricoh tech support, is that ScanRouter Lite can ONLY scan as a Windows file to local drives; no mapped, SMB, FTP, or the like type drives are supported.

Scanning to drives which aren't physically attached requires ScanRouter Pro, which is not a free product.

While I have heard of folks getting mapped drives to work, I've never actually seen it personally, and I've installed a ton of 'em.

You could always scan to a folder on the server, and use a utility to watch that folder to send it wherever you like. There are gobs of shareware that can do this at a very modest cost.
