I would check all the fans to make sure they are operating correctly and check the filters to make sure they are not clogged with dust, impeding air flow. Also, make sure the machine is not pushed up against a wall or anything that would block the vents. But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

Had one of these (actually a 650) with a similar problem. The fuser exit fan had a dead spot in the motor - sometimes it would start, sometimes it would not.
My machine built up enough heat inside to fuse all the toner in the drum cleaning station completely solid. Took over an hour to chisel everything out - like black diamonds.
Given the age of the machine I'd replace that fan even if it seems to be running, it may be starting to slow down in its old age.73 DE W5SSJComment
