    MPC 3500 polygon motor

Today after checking a laser unit for an mpc3500 i found that the polygon
mirror surfaces were contaminated the same way as in the old Model J SERIS copiers.
My problem was sc220,after cleaning the contamination sc 220 was gone.

Iam not sure if that was the cause of the problem but the synchronization beam goes through the polygon mirror.

Anyway the thing is if the polygon is contaminated we will start having uneven image density in this model also.Bear in mind that is well used m/c.

    Has anybody seen this

Never seen it on the Apollon, see it on an Athena before though. Is the laser shutter in place correctly or has it been removed?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

The contamination. It's unusual for the Apollon to do that. Maybe someone else has seen it? Anyway give the laser unit a good clean out, make sure the casing is not warped or twisted. I've seen an Athena with a twisted laser casing give poor copy quality issues too. Do you have a workshop machine you can whip the laser unit out of and try in it?
