    Ricoh 2060 help needed!!

I am working on a Ricoh 2060 and it is hanging at "Please Wait" and will not print. I am new to this machine and do not have a service manual. Are there any other brands that use the same engine? I have access to alot of manuals and may have something that will work.

The customer said that she did get a sc 863-06. All I saw was the "Please Wait" though. Is there a way to bring up the error code(s)?

What is the 863-06 error code? What is the fix for this?

Also, i there a service mode or diagnostic mode I can get into? If so, how?

    Thanks, for your help.

If it is in fact the HDD. Where can I get the info to restore the new drive? I don't think they will let me pm you to get the full manual. But, they said it would be ok if you sent a few pages. I really could use the error codes & fixes and something to show me how to get into service mode. My email is compuprintsolutions@gmail.com Thanks!

The HDD's shagged. Just replace it with an off the shelf 40 to 80GB one. Seagate preferably. The machine will sort itself out from there.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

I changed the drive out with a Western Digital 40 gig. I jumpered it as master and even cable select with no luck. I was getting sc 865-01 and an 870 errors pending on where it was jumpered. I am not sure if the drive I used was DOA. Is there anything I am missing here? I need to get this thing up and running asap!

Is the machine working without the HDD? Normaly when the machine stops at "please wait" or SC860 to SC870 appears the HDD is defect.

I never had problems with a new HDD, but i use only the genuine parts for the machines. But it should work with a WD HDD, i heard a few times, that it works.

It will come up with an error without the drive. But with the drive it wouldn't even get to the point of error. I am pretty sure the drive is doa. It has been in my trunk for a long time.

I am going to take another drive up there shortly. Is there anything I will need to do after I install the drive? I was told it would do everything itself....but the manual is telling me I need to run a download etc with sp. I can't figure out how to even get it in sp mode. The manual is not helping much.

You have nothing to do after installing the new HDD. Only The Adressbook, if one exists, is saved on the HDD and will not be restored. When you got a backup, you can restore it. But you don't, am i right? No customer got the time to backup the adressbooks. And the technician can't keep all the addressbooks of all machines on his notebook up to date.

Now i will go to my company Christmasparty and wish you all a nice nice weekend.

I once replaced mine with a used 40Gb HDD without success. After that, we tried with a brand new 160Gb HDD and it solved our problem - although the machine only uses 40Gb of the total space.

Was the drive you tried a brand new one? Drives that have had data on them before from PC's, or even in different types of copier render them unuseable in other machines.

just replace the hdd with new one - to isolate the problem.

I replaced the hdd, but it didn't seem to load even though the last one did look like it was trying to load something. Is this normal? When I power it up it still says please wait, but if I power it up with the door open it gives me an error code of sc545. I ohm out thermostats and 1 of the 192 c's would not ohm out. I know this error says check the thermisters, but they seem to ohm out. Although 1 seems to ohm out higher then the other. Any ideas because I am trying to save as much money as possible.

Replace the thermostats and the thermistors. AW10 0108 and 0109 for the thermistors, AW11 0064 and 0066 for the thermostats. There's two of one type of thermostat, can't remember which one it is.

After hdd replacment you should format it through the machine using sp code "mode".Sometimes it help to format the hdd through a normal pc and then putting it back into the machine.....
