The reason for scanning to the document server is that this function uses the hard drive and, if it was a problem with this, I'd expect to get the SC992s. Personally I don't think that it is the hard drive though!
Off the top of my head, try doing the LD pitch adjustments in SP mode. I take it that you don't get any quality issues when you're printing out SMC data and suchlike? Although the customer doesn't use it to print, this will rule out the ADF, mirrors, lens block assy etc if you're also getting the problem when printing from memory.
Just a thought, but you could try scanning a biggish job into the document server and then printing it back out from there. That would kill two birds with one stone!
