    2232c poor fusing (smudging)

smudging only occurs on letterhead paper and anything over 100gsm.

letterheads are placed in the normal cassette trays setted on letterhead in usertools. this cured the problem for a short while.

have also adjusted the temperature in the fuser unit as stated in the RTB 7. SP1-912-2 and SP1-916-1 have been adjusted as stated in the rtb.

machine does get used alot throughout the day. only done 300k. all parts are still within pm. the only thing i can think of now is replacing the fusing oil with a heavy duty oil supply.

has anyone else had the same problem??

Run as thick paper. Use the high volume oil supply unit.
Don't take that toner with me!

Shouldn't it be going through the bypass? Strictly speaking...

Llama is correct, you have to use the bypass for anything over 28lb stock. The letterhead setting for the cassettes is for labeling purposes only (allows the operator to see what type is/should be in the drawer) and doesn't affect the fusing.
You could cheat a little and adjust the springs in the fuser for more pressure (hook them an extra ring or two tighter). I've done that once for the local Police Department that ran high volume glossy brochures and was annoyed at the amount that the bypass would hold. Also adjusted the fuser temp about 5 degrees hotter. That worked but I'm sure the fuser life will be reduced.

Letterhead mode also affects the way the machine pulls paper in duplex mode to make sure the letterhead is always right side up.

If this machine has a fuser idling mode enable it (not sure - can't look it up right now) The pressure roller will get cold and pull extra heat off the belt.
