Ricoh 1055 ADF

Our church recently received a Ricoh Aficio 1055 as a donation. It seems to be a great machine in great shape. I have two issues with it

1) It will not allow me to copy from the glass. Whenever I place something there and close the lid it tells me that an original was left on the glass and the start button turns red. Is there a setting that I have missed. I have gone through the menus but don't see anything. The manual doesn't say anything either.

2) When using the ADF the last original is not ejected. It tells me that it has misfed. It seems to be ableto duplex the original, just not eject it. Any suggestions?

Its quite "old" model (analog of Aficio 551/700 models). But if it is in a good shape it's very good.
It's very hard to say what causes it but it seems to me like you are doing something wrong. There are shouldn't be any problems to scan from the glass even if you have ADF. There are few sensors "under" the glass that reads that paper present on a glass and it triggers "Start" button to turn Green. If it doesn't recognize your original it could be a faulty sensor (veeery rare problem). Try to push "Clear" ALL the time you finished jobs (copies, scans etc.). It clears all settings for the next job. Also go to "System settings" and check what it says there (not sure about this model how to get there.
