Have you tried fitting the SPC 811 kits to the MPC4500 ? you can and we do.

shure that - you'll just need to swap the TD sensor PWB and treat the connector PCU wise

re ricoh techs replacing colour units with moded blacks, i have been told that we have to fit colour pcu's to colour and black to black. only takes a slip up on cutting/sanding the connector wrong and you have a full gearbox in the back of the machine to replace. my old company did the mods but was a horrible job when one engineer smashed the connector in the back of the machine.
I think this mod is pretty idiot proof and I can't report any cases like this. We've probably modded a few hundreds drum units and spc pcu's so far without any complications. There was only a software issue when we tried to install the SPC pcu's into the copiers without swapping the TD sensor - there is a SP mode (new PCU detection) wich supressed the occuring SC code but sooner or later the machines started to struggle with the toner detection.

we gave it a shot with the SPC PCU's in an MFP, as you said, cutting off the New Unit Detection. i've got one in the field installed just last week and the yellow toner said it was empty just a couple of days later (had 3/5 bars at the time of replacement). i was wondering if manually executing the Developer Init and Process Control would help with the toner detection?

okaaay... i'm sure they get told not to do lots of things but that doesn't mean there isn't a way to do it and make it work.

Just file the rear electrical connector to match the one removed, takes 2minutes.

Re: Ricoh mpc 2500/3500 drum units

                          Hi.

We are finding that there is no real problems with our proceedure and the cost saving is a real bonus.

Basically you have to change over the old T.D. sensor onto the new units, chamfer the connector as per the original and cut off the location peg or change over the front cover of the unit. Caution----- if the chamfer is not done enough it WILL push out the rear connector, then you're in big poo.
