Had a bit of a scratch around in the RTBs and came up with this firmware update,

SC542 SP1-103-2 Off + Temp has been newly
    added to prevent SC542 from
    occurring at machine power-on under
    low-temperature conditions.
Note: For this fix, it is necessary to
    use Controller firmware ver5.15.1 or
    newer.

Dont know where in the States you are, but if you one of the poor bastards freezing your nuts off it might be worth considering.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

make sure you are using oem roller.
      lower fuser temp to 157.

Ive had a couple of machines that constantly pull up fuser SC's, and ive kinda put it down to power surges - air con turning on or something. Check if the codes happen at the same time every day from the SMC report. If it happens during the night tell them to turn it off when leaving.

          I had

I had one of these doing this once and it was because the AC vent was blowing right into the fuser area of the machine. Customer couldn't move machine so I put cardbord in front of vent to redirect the AC and it took care of the problem. Took me a few service calls to figure that one out

Upgrade firmware Then set fuser idle to time & temp . That has fixed all of mine with that problem.
