Savin 9025 - Color Reg Marks on Copies and Prints

Had a client call and report the above complaint. Actually, the ticket said color lines.

When I got that, this what I saw...

    before.jpg

I was puzzled as hell! That's why I printed the Trim Pattern above.

Well, after some thought, I pulled the ITB Cleaning Unit and found this...

    IMG00046.jpg

    Yep! That's right!

    IMG00047.jpg

... A piece of paper trapped around the ITB Cleaning Unit Brush. It was also laying across the blade! After I found this, it didn't seem so obvious. That's because there was no evidence of the problem on the belt...

    IMG00045.jpg

...but I rolled the belt manually and found this...

    IMG00048.jpg

... After this, I cleaned the blade and test ran the machine. But found that I was still getting black smudges, so I changed the ITB Cleaning Unit and the problem was solved. Well, not totally! So how did the paper get there? Only thing I could think of paper jams, so I asked. Yeah, they were having jams. I printed the log report and found 96 jams! This machine only has 50K on it, so I knew there was a problem! After looking at the log report closer, I saw that most all the jams were originating from tray 1. Upon inspection, I found that the paper stop was pushed to far forward. With a full ream of paper, the spring could not lift the deck. Combined with the force pressed against it from the rear of the deck and a full stack of paper, it could not lift. After that, everything ran smooth as silk.

    Just hope this helps someone!

The first law states that energy is conserved: The change in the internal energy is equal to the amount added by heating minus the amount lost by doing work on the environment.

I've found things stuck in the ITB cleaning unit causing similar problems, labels, bits of paper, clumps of hair...

I love when the customer uses the little tiny labels, and about 100 of them come off somewhere inside the machine, and you have to find them all. (Negligent use of labels not covered by maint. agreement, of course.)
Don't take that toner with me!

You missed a big clue in your pictures. The paper in the cleaning unit is the instructions aroind the outsede of "easy peel gummed labels". In my mind that means that they are even more prone to peeling from the backing page and grabbing rollers along the way. So if they send it through a feed section that has any bend at all, the edges peel and the labels are a ticking time bomb. Add to that the label programs that keep track of labels used on a sheet and will pick up where they left off the next time they want to print a few labels, and the customer runs the same label sheet through the copier several times with each pass through the fuser making the adhiesive weaker with every trip. My instructions are. stay away from anything that says "easy peel", run them through the bupass so the make the fewest bends possible, and only run them through once.

Yeah BYPASS for LABELS. I thought that was an Avery EasyPeel. I HATE the EASYPEEL. You can't find the old style anymore unless you buy like a case of 100 sheets or something. Those worked better.
