    240 rw wide format

Machine continuouslly asks for toner and i replaced the ID sensor, without success!
I noticed that some drawing prints/copies between others were faint all over. At this time i can't say it's a scanning or printing problem, but according to 'ADD TONER ' message i think it is a drum charge, Led head, or Developer bias problem. (M/c cannot write the appropriate patch for ID calibration).
There is no SC logged for this.
Does anyone have had the same problem?
Thanks in advance for any input!

Had the same problem some time ago and went through the same process. Don't forget the sensor needs to be initalized. I eliminated most of the problems by turning off the ID sensor through Diag. and letting the machine run in the manual add toner mode for some time which eliminated everything but the developer mix itself. Changed the mix reinitalized everything and it ran OK.

I assume you checked the obvious, toner bottle. If the customer stored it on end it will lock up. Sometimes as techs we overlook the little things.

good point, add toner on that machine can be something simple and it could be that the drum has some miles over.

No. it is not so simple....
Toner clutch works constantly and cartridge drops toner and it never stops!! M/c has 70K meters and Drum Developer 20K meters.
The trick point is that machine prints/copy normally one job and the other can be faint just like the lightest choice and even more...
I suspected that sometimes the CGB board do not provide the developer bias voltage..So i put on my voltmeter and i found that when machine prints correctlly, i have 315V/650V readings (this is normal-first reading for the ID patch, the second for the print process) and when-suddenly at all-it prints faint i have 95V reading. In second case it is obvious that ID patch will de faint also, so m/c asks for toner. (Patch is produced on the drum everyafter print). I ordered the CGB power pack and i'll be back...Today i spent my day there.
No, it is not so simple...Thanks a lot for your interest!!!

Do you hear the clicking when machine adding toner to the development unit?
If yes, you must remove the toner cartridge, shake it, periodic you must check how much force you need to apply that the drive will rotate easily.
              Then install the toner cartridge.
Do not forget! You must glue the holes on the toner cartridge before shaking! Use narrow adhesive tape.

Did you ever resolve the problem? I'm interested in whether the CGB board fixed it...

I had a similar problem on a 240w, with the constant add toner condition, about a month ago. Turned out that a dealer had "fixed" the ID sensor with one from a 480w. D'oh! One developer change and the proper ID sensor later, all was good in the world.

I think i have finished with that horror yesterday...it took me many hours, about 1.000 Km travelling and so on...
I did replace the CGB power pack, reseat all plug/jacks at MCU/IPU and it seems to work after a 3 hours hard test, but i can't say it was the CGB board definetely, or the MCU giving erratic signals to CGB board.
There were some 'accidents' during service operation, like loose setscrews at drum drive pulley, wasted toner blocked from overtoning...wich made that problem a horror.
(To Rorschach : RW 480 and 240 RW use the same ID sensor : B213-2367)
