    Great.

I found out today that I've got about a dozen of these lovelies getting installed between now and the end of the month.

I wonder what the odds are of getting at least a few without the card?

Because we are R and we must fix them
By the way problem was solved with the factory SD cards. Chances are really low for anybody else to receive defective units....but is not impossible. Already SD cards with instructions are shipped for the affected units.

BTW... The RIP for this machine will be the Fiery E7200, which I understand won't be available until late May or early June.

Don't try to use an E7100 (the RIP for the MPC6000 /7000), as it won't work.

Yes E7200 is the dedicated Fiery. It's interesting that they renounced to use the "big boy" E8100 used with Pro 550. Wondering why?

I think whats happened is someone in the factory forgot to set up. On some of the newer smaller machines you need to load on PCL as an option and that from memory involves a sd card.

Probably gonna be a "Pro C551" or something. I would just as soon not see your average user get a fiery they don't use them anyway. I pretty much see the we have to have one because we always did or we got SOLD because the sales guy wanted to make more one it.

Even the TB is mentioning the PCL font v 1.02 being incomplete installed in the factory... the boot SD card provided will install over 800 files!! so is re writing everything. Already fixed 3 units affected by this printing problem...The fix won't take longer that 10 min and the SD card can be reused as many times is necessary. First impression about this machine is positive from my point of view. Hope time won't change this first impression. Hope MAAP will be corrected pretty soon cause is mentioning D014 as the right developer and is deadly wrong....The right part no starts with D081 and each individual bottle must have a D081 sticker.
Dev. installation procedure is flawlessly. Materials used in the inverter area are different and this thing is visible just looking at the inverter...The extra knob installed in the duplex unit has the role to help user to remove the paper stuck in inverter/duplex that before was 100% teared by opening the duplex drawer....generating automatically a call. App to me and VM card is default but I didn't saw the license for App to me application.
Didn't tested this machine with any really thick paper to see if are improvements in this area. Overall I think this supposed to be the original MPC 6000...

NO. Toner and developer are specially designed for this new machine... The key for the new toner bottles is different and the developer bottles have a D081 part number

D081/D082 machines are using PS3 cards type 7501.
So it is not the same with the one used in D014/015 machines

The Fiery is a massively expensive option compared to a GW controller even if you add PS3, and I've only ran into a VERY few cases where the customer actually uses the additional features of the Fiery. Before adding one of these onto the price tag, make sure they really need it, and can't accomplish the same job with some additional software on their PC.

Until recently, Ricoh's contract with Adobe for the "Genuine" PostScript modules called for Ricoh to price the option at 7% the list price of the engine - at least here in the U.S. That means a $20,000 base price color copier will cost $1,400 for the PS3 option. Kinda pricey. Again - the only reason you MUST have the PS3 is if the customer has Mac's, or you want to use PDF direct print. Some apps make it worthwile to invest in the PostScript (Mostly Adobe applications - go figure) but if they're're that heavily into graphics the customer may want to go all the way to a Fiery - that way they can do PMS color matching, Process Simulation, and Spot-On color corrections as well.

If you have to ask if it is too expensive, you probably don't want it. Way overkill for 99% of the customers. More complications and less reliable than the GW controller. Get it only if the features on the fiery are really NEEDED.
