    SPC232sf Scan to Folder

I am having trouble getting this machine to do SMB scanning to Windows XP Pro. It keeps saying "Server Connection Failed". I know everything on the computer is set correctly because I can scan from the MP3500 around the corner. I have tried using IP as well as host name with no success. Scan to email works just fine. Anyone have any luck setting one of these up?

The Main firmware needs to be at least 1.07, or you'll have issues with scan to folder. I'd check there first.

The current Main firmware version is 1.14aT.

Main is at 1.11. That was one of the things I checked after it kept failing.

Most problems with scanning to workstations is usually to do with the local firewall and/or Anti-virus software. For testing purposes try disabling the anti-virus and turn off the windows firewall. There is also an additional network card firewall which can be turned off. Also (this may sound obvious) but make sure that the workstation IP address has been fixed, as you don't want the IP address of the workstation renewing after 30 days or so and then it stops scanning and you have to return and set it all up again.

Also check you put in the full UNC path \\"computer ip address"\"sharename" for example.

network is it a domain or workgroup. Check workgroup on copier make sure info is the same as network. could be firewall or permission causing problems. are you able when setting up user in key operator mode able to browse to computer folder.

1.try changing to IP address instead of host name to see if dns isnt working
2.verify that folder is shared and users have full rights to it
3.turn off firewall/antivirus to see if that is the issue
4.ping the ip address of the workstation from the copier to see if it can see it
5.verify that gateway is set properly...even try to ping gateway ip from copier to see if it jives

Thanks guys for the reply. I have reviewed and tried everything that you have mentioned. We even did a factory reset on the machine. I had a MPC6000 that did something strange like this recently and we ended up replacing the controller to fix the problem. I think this is our next step in the resolution process.

                  *UPDATE*
The scanning issue was resolved. When scanning directly to a PC the "Domain (Optional)" section has to have the host name of the computer. Apparently it is not optional but a mandatory that something be entered into this box.

Excuse my intrusion, but i have a Ricoh SPC232sf and i can scan to file perfectly, but what i cant do is scan to email, it keeps appearing "conecting to server", then after a few moments the display tells me "network contection failure". The smpt server is correc, the DNS are correct too and i can print pages correctly, and as i say, the scan-to-file works fine, i cant tell why it doesnt scan-to-email. Can you help me???

                        Hi,

What you will probably find is that the SMTP server is not set to Relay incoming e-mails. Is the server running exchange 2003 or 2007?
