    SC503

Hi all have a sc503 problem.
Checked all the basics like paper stacked correctly.
The problem is it wont shift the tray accross.Put a tiny amount of paper and it works fine.Put a large amount and it wont shift.I have replaced the tray lift motor and the stepper motor.Still wont do the trick.Im starting to think it could be the clutch but not really sure.Checked gears belts and the tray lifts correctly just out of ideas.Any ideas would be great.

      -paper lift sensor defective.
      -tray lift motor defective
-to much load on the drive mechanism
      -poor tray lift motor connection

did you check also the springs?

The belt pulley on the end of the shaft that drives the fence is D shaped. It can round out and have enough grip to drive a light load but will spin on the shaft on anything heavy. I'm making the assumption this is the LCT type found on the larger mfp's.

+1 for teebee1234's rounded out pulley. I've got one client I keep a few on hand at their location because it's happened so many times!

Agree with the teebee1234. Almost 100% sure it's the belt pulley.

Sorry guys LCT on mpc 5000.
Is the pully in the middle of the tray or the one behind the tray?
And does anyone have a part number for this?
Thanks for all the reponses guys.

Well, the mpc5000 is somewhat different but basically the same mechanical design. Attached is a tech bulletin to replace the shaft and pulley.
