    converting a gestetner 3285 to 32105???

    Has anyone ever converted the 3285 to a 32105?
    I have personaly coverted the old 3235 to a 3245
    I was wondering how to do the 85 to 105 convertion???
    Has anyone done it?

    The heat lamps are different, and the rest is supposed to be done by a setting in firmware, but I have no idea where or how, or even if its really true.

      yip, I know about the heat lamps... aparently the hdd's are also changed the 85 uses 5600rpm and the 105 uses 7200rpm
      I don't know if it's essential to change it tho...???
      anything els, anyone???
      Main boards, motors, laser unit...... are they the same???

        From what I've been told all the machines were manufactured as 85ppm and were upgraded before shipment to 105 when needed - again, I can't prove that, but I can tell you all the 85's I've seen in the field had 7200rpm drives from the factory. I can also tell you all the motors are electronically speed controlled, so the speed comes from the computers (except possibly the mirror motor) If you can figure out how to get the firmware to think its a 105 it should be doable.

        Be aware these machines had low image density problems on long runs due to drum fatigue, and its much more noticable on the 105.
