3045 jam code 023

Hey all,

I have a remaned 3045 that has intermitant 023 jams. The code is duplex exit off, but I can never get it to jam when I'm there to see where the paper stops at. I can get it to run 400-500 sheets when I am there , but it only jams after I'm gone. Anyone have this happen to them. Any help appreciated. TIA

Were those tests you did all duplexed? Jam 23 is duplex exit on, 73 is off. If off then the copy didn't make it to the exit in time (rollers dirty/slipping, failing/dirty exit sensor?). Do you have access to another duplexer to throw on there? Were you able to pin down the user to demonstrate exactly what they were doing?
73= Duplex Exit Sensor OFF, 23*= Duplex Exit Sensor

Check the cushion for the duplex junction gate in the copier interchange unit. It gets sticky and will jam, then unstick and work fine until it sets idle for a while and sticks again.

1+ for Fearless V K. I've seen the damper pads in the interchange unit turn sticky many times, resulting in mysterious 'it only jams in the morning' type situations. Simply remove the pads and the issue is solved. They are there to minimize the clicking sound as the gate solenoids are energized and de-energized and there is no issue with them being removed.

I have a duplex unit on order, but will try the damper pads until it arrives. Thanx !! Will let you know what happens.
