    Ricoh 2018D fax malfuction

Hi, All. I have a B123 (2018d) that prints fine, copies fine, faxes fine, but when printing out the fax com report it does this. Looks like image processing. Where is the data stored for fax reports? Anyone run into this? Paper exits letter R.

Just an update. This customer called today and said ALL incoming faxes look like this. I'm going to swap out the FCU Thursday, unless anyone has another idea of a possible cause.

I had a 2027 doing the same thing awhile back. I think I reset the Fax memory in tech rep mode (SP5801-something). Make sure you back up your address book just in case it wipes it on this model.

Does the customer fax their documents long edge? There was an issue with the original fax boards for this models which would cook the memory if faxes weren't done short edge. It would cause all kinds of wierd problems, including screwy confirm pages...

Looks like a laser unit problem, but only when it prints? Weird.

I guess I ought to update firmware, too. If any of you generous techs has the time and firmware, can you send it to me? I would be reputation-boosting thankful for it. (B123)

              Hi There,

this is an FCU Problem. They have modified the FCU with new resistors. I had the problem some years ago. Replace it.

              Greetings from Austria

                Theage is correct,

the first faxboards on these machines were faulty. You should swap the board and claim by Ricoh, it's a known issue You should get the board for free.
