Windows 7 and Scan to folder

I have tried to setup scan to folder on several different Ricoh machines and the same thing happens every time. After you log in with the username and password I get the message "check settings" and after that the machine will not browse the network, until it is powered off\on. I cannot find any info in regard to scanning and Windows 7. I have turned the firewall and virus protection off and set the security settings as low as possible. Do the machines need a firmware upgrade?

    Thanks

    Ken

Other possibility is that WIndows 7 doesn't allow by default that a folder be shared without a password. So, if your trying to access the folder with a user without a password, it will block you.

Go to "Network and Sharing Center" -> "Change Advanced Sharing Settings" -> Select "Turn off password protected sharing"

I have already tried that and it did not help.

Depending on the model/age of the mfp's you may have to upgrade the firmware. Vista and Windows 7 use a newer protocol of SMB and any machines that are more than a few years old will require firmware update. If they were using XP previously with no problems then this could be the issue.

Program the Scan to Folder via the Web Image Monitor. That will work. Most MFP unless newest firmware will do what you described above.

it sounds like your dealing with a permissions issue.
Ricoh & Microsoft may pay the bills but Un*x saves my ass every day.

One thing I found is that the currently logged in user can not scan to the computer from the machine. I have IT setup another account on the machine just for the copiers to use for scanning. Also I have the machine use the password and include the account in the security permissions for the folder.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

This is the way we do it, too. (only way we could get it to work)

Don't have to create Custom Accounts for Windows 7 Scan to Folder unless customer account is corrupt or user account has been renamed.

Upgrading the firmware and entering the scan to folder path through WIM has solved the problem on the B140 and B180 series machines. Thanks for all of your help!
