    Ricoh 240 software error

Has anyone seen this before? Unable to reserve memory for printing, if I attempt to reprint the job, it turns green and says plotting, then prints out an error page and changes to problem status.

Restarting the plotter has no effect. Restarting Plotbase will solve the problem for about a week, then the it returns, and requires the software to be restarted again.

    error

my guess would be bad RAM in the PC running Plotbase. Or possibly the PC has some items (video or BIOS) cached in to memory eventually causing conflicts. Nothing in the Windows event log??

I used to set these up with some Autorun software so when PC boots up, it would pause like 20 seconds then launch Plotbase. Whenever PC lost power or needed to be restarted it was always a screaming customer saying "how do I get this thing to print". they just couldnt figure out how to restart Plotbase and would mess it up even more. You might want to use something like this as well as put something in the Task Schedule to auto Reboot every day/every other day. not a fix but a bandaid!

    what version PB??

    good luck

I had a wide format guy in Atlanta tell me that setting the pc to do a long POST will fix a lot of the flaky plotbase problems - gives the card time to initialize. I had one that would lose the serial number every time the power dropped, and I'd have to go reinstall plotbase. The long post seems to have fixed it.
