Is the developer over life? It may be the dev unit's puffing a bit. Rebuild the PCU with new parts, check the entrance seals on the PCU and dev unit for signs of wear too.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Sounds like the drum cleaning blade is worn out, and/or lines worn in the drum allowing toner to get by the cleaning blade.
Don't take that toner with me!

Also check the mag roller for coating. Brush away developer from the face of the mag roller, it should be shiny all the way across. When toner "melts" to the surface it acts as an electrical insulator and reduces the bias voltage in that area, causing background on the drum which will transfer to the charge roller. Replace the mag roller along with the developer if that's the case.

Is this a drum with the old style foam pad to clean the charge roller or the actual brush roller? If the former, modify it to use the brush roller and use the same brush you would for an LD035 or higher machine: the spines on the brush are better than the old plush ones and will last much longer.

If your going to modify to use a cleaning brush, go ahead and put on the new style front and rear charge roller terminals. They work much better(like on a B079/B082)
