I can't say for sure this is your problem but if it's anything like http and https, secure connections take longer.

A IP range and the working machine has a class C IP range the non working machine has a wrong subnet mask 255.255.0.0 should be 255.0.0.0 the working machine is correct subnet mask should and is 255.255.255.0
Well as the machines are working in DHCP that leeds me to say they not in the same environment...Leave a comment:

Hmm, tried that with no luck. Also we tried using the java log collection program they sent us. It worked with all the 6000's and 3 of 4 5000's that we tried it on. It failed to work with one of the 5000's. All 4 5000's are still having problems saving to the file server while the 6000's work. Very strange.
Before doing any of this, make damn sure you don't have a network issue. Move the copiers to a working location and non-working location. This should be an easy test to perform.Leave a comment:

Have local Reps try reloading the newest Firmware on Effected Units. Could be something corrupted even though they are new. It happens.Leave a comment:

Ricoh Afficio MP5000 scanning to file server issues
Hi,
My company just purchased several MP5000's and a few MP6000's. The MP6000's work fine when scanning to a fileserver, but the MP5000's do the following (we did network sniffs to find this out):
1. Scan a document to the file server. The MP5000 has delays of 3 - 4 minutes before the document shows up on the files server. From the network trace we see that the MP5000 just waits for 3 - 4 minutes before even attempting to contact the file server. Once it does, the transfer of the document to the file server happens very quickly.
2. Scan document #1 then scan document #2 and you cannot scan document #3 for 3-4 minutes (e.g. until document #1 shown up on the file server). Then you cannot scan dcoument #4 for another 3 - 4 minutes until document #2 shows up on the file server. This is a major problem.
The MP6000's do not have this behavior as the documents show up on the file server within 20 - 30 seconds after scanning them in. Both MP5000's and MP6000's are set up the same.
The local Ricoh reps have not been able to solve this problem so I ask you folks. What, if anything, can be done to fix the MP5000's. We really do not want to go through all the work to return them all or fight the local reps and Ricoh to get them replaced.
cheers,
ski
