Has it had any parts replaced yet? Laser glass cleaned? etc, etc.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Only replaced the black pcu. The machine is fairly new. Cleaned the laser toner shield glass. The inside of the laser was clean. Seems like only the cayn and magenta that is doing it.
magenta lines to the right and cayn lines is to the left.

That is rather bizarre. I'd try engine clear then update the firmware after that. If that doesn't work, controller board would be the next step.

Saying that - try reseating any DIMMS and formatting the HDD first. Might be a memory issue. Does it do the same via USB and ethernet?

It does it through ehternet and the printouts out of memory. Haven't tried usb but pretty sure it will do it too

IPU board and possibly a laser unit next methinks.

You may want to try another transfer belt unit. I've seen some strange problems come from a faulty TB, although never exactly like the problem your machine is exhibiting. The reason I'm saying this is because of the 60 degree thing. That may correlate to a transfer cleaning brush. I don't have one of those on hand to look at to see for sure.

Ok will try it tomorrow. Its now midnight in SA. Do you think the tansfer unit will have that kind of effect just on cyan and magenta cause yellow and black is fine

Still no joy with this machine.

                        Update firmware
                        Replaced transfer unit.
                        Replaced dev. unit.
                        Cleared memory.

I compared the test print from a mpc3000 and the cl4000 through a magnifing glass and what i found is that the mpc3000 (which is making a beautiful copy) test page had the same lines as the cl4000. The mpc3000 lines just looked like they are thicker or with more toner. You can not see the lines on the mpc3000 with the naked eye.
I checked i maybe there was something like toner save mode switched on, but could not find such a setting. Even the letter on the config page apears thinner on the cl4000 than the one from the mpc3000.

                          Board time methinks.

I saw that pattern on a different machine and it was the laser unit.

                              Ok Got it finally.

It was a thin layer of dust on the top mirror, which handles the magenta and cyan. How the hell did it get in there. Should have looked at that first.

                              Anyway thanks for everyones help.
