Thanks Eric - thats the exact bulletin I have been thru tho, and when it didnt work I replaced every component it mentioned -

      • BCU
      • NVRAM
      • Imaging Unit (LD Unit)
      • Transfer Belt Assembly
      • PCU / Developer Units
      • ID Sensors

Except the PCU's / Devs or the ID sensors......

When you did the memory clear, did you backup the original configuration to an SD-card? If not, first try to enter the non-default data from the 'birth certificate'. Did you try a new transfer belt assy?

Set SP5-993, Line Position Adjustment, 10 through 21 to the Factory Data Sheet. If you don't have the Factory Data Sheet, Set them all to 0. Don't adjust these settings until the Forced line position adjustment succeed.

THe last time i had this problem, we tried all of the above and it turned out to be the laser unit. We reset everything back to the settings on the birth certificate and then replaced the laser unit and it went back to alignment.

Problems like you have described can also be caused by dirty rollers inside the itb, particularly the silver ones and the thick black rubber press roller, try it and see.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

I dont have the factory data sheet, but I cant do this as the Forced Line Position fails. Or should I try it anyway? Thanks for the suggestion tho.

Also, I dont think its the ITB as the rollers have been cleaned spotless and it works fine in another machine.

                  Any other suggestions?

If you don't have the factory data sheet then at least print out SMC 5990-001

Sorry, I forgot to tell you that you can try the forced alignment, but it will not work if the lines are to far part. Try to adjust the lines with SP2-909 and 2-916. Its difficult, but if you get the lines close enough the alignment will succeed. If the forced alignment succeed and the lines are still not aligned, use SP5-993 10 to 21 to adjust.

Thanks Koosie, i lined up the grid perfect with SP's 2909 and 2916 but both the coarse and fine forced line adjustment still failed. Also the internal colour print SP1103-2 was all over the place and when I turned the machine off and on again the grid was back to its original position - way out - but the figures I had entered to correct the grid were still in their SP's.

So, new laser, new BCU board, new BCU NVRAM, new controller NVRAM, memory clear, known good ITB assembly, ITB rollers cleaned and shiny, ID sensors cleaned, grid lined up with SP5993's and 2909's and 2916's and still the forced line registration SP5993-32 and 5993-2 fails......whats left?

Have you stripped down the transfer assembley and cleaned the silver rollers and the sensors, and of course the id sensors , also replace the transfer belt.

It may also be a good idea to do a forced toner for each color. If the density is weak it will also have a difficult time seeing the lines.
