I have this machine who makes some blur/jitter/whatever you can call it at the same location when printing on A3/DLT or bigger paper. I've attached some examples to better clarify what I'm talking about (I'm sorry about the size):
Here's a good print:

Here's a bad print:
bad..jpg
And here's the explanation for the bad print:
bad_explained..jpg
Some observations:
- Defect A appears when looking normally at the print; Defect B is noticeable only when light reflects at a certain angle (which is to say that when looking normally at the print, you can see A very well but B is barely noticeable)
- Defect A varies in size - sometimes is less than a centimeter long, some other times can be 3 or 4 centimeters. Defect B is not always present in bad copies - or at least is not easily seen with naked eyes.
- This is not an easily repeatable problem. The machine usually starts off well, then it starts to throw out a bad print in the middle of several good ones, until it finally spits a bad one every two prints, or worse. So, everytime I change something at the machine, I need to ask the customer to send out 10 or more prints so I can wait and see if the problem is gone.
- I've got my brain fried over this one, so I can't think of anything else. Gonna have a good night's sleep and tomorrow I'll look at this again and answer any questions you guys can think of - or, hopefully, someone who already had this problem will post the solution to me. If so, I'll gladly pay you, anonymous helper, a cold one over paypal!
Good night!
