    MPC4500 DF Jams

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has had alot of jamming in the seperation/skew sensors.Besides the usual cleaning the sensors what could be causing this?

Every time I have jams with these 2 sensors its the dark felt in the pits underneath them that has become light with dust. Paint it over with black marker pen and away it goes..

from my experiance the df feed belts are wearing out quite fast on this DF type wich may lead to timing issues - cleaning that sensor reflecting area is quite a neat tip as well.

Have you tried replacing the reverse roller 'torque limiter', I find these get flakey after time, on a MC that does high volume scanning I replace these every second doc feed PM.

The sensor that is usually overlooked is the one that you need to remove the white 'cutting board' velcro'ed to the underside of the adf to get to. Then you need to remove the screw from the pinch roller guide plate you just exposed, and remove the guide to get to the sensor.
