    Ricoh MP-C2800

Everything works fine, except I am getting an error when I hook up the finisher. The error code is SC764. The paper jams when I try to use the finisher. It is the SR3000 booklet finisher.

Check the punch unit for all connections fully seated and make sure there is no binding

    SC764 (B)
Paper position sensor slide motor error
The paper position sensor moves but is not detected at the home
position within the specified time. The 1st detection failure issues a jam
error, and the 2nd failure issues this SC code.
    • Motor harness disconnected, loose, defective
    • Defective motor

    1. Check the connections to the paper position sensor slide motor.
    or [C] detects
when the slider is at home position and stops paper position slide motor.
    2. Defective paper position sensor slide motor.

This may sound silly, but if this is a brand new finisher, make sure that all of the orange "lockdown" tape has been removed.

The factory tends to put it where it doesn't seem very likely.

Paper position slide motor error. So it is possible the drive motor is bad or OBSTRUCTED. Anyone install a PUNCH Unit in this Finisher?

yeah I think there is something wrong with the sensor or slide motor on the finisher. I am trying to figure it out. Thanks for all the advice. It does have a punch unit. The punch seems fine, but not sure til I can get the whole finisher to work.

Try removing Punch unit and see if it makes a difference? can't hurt.

It will still misfeed there unless he has the no-punch-unit guide plate installed.

I think this is the code I got when I put the connectors in the wrong place, when installing the punch unit.

Just unplug the punch unit harnesses (make sure the punch is in the open position).

True, was hoping he had kept those. We keep them.

I unplugged the punch unit harness and it seemed to fix that problem. But then the paper misfed when it tried to feed the paper into the finisher. I will try removing the punch unit today.

You are getting Close my friend. I figured it was the punch unit. The jam is because you are missing the previous guts from the finisher that were there before the Punch unit was installed.

I am sailing in the same boat. Yesterday, went to an MP4000 with a SR3030 finisher giving the same SC764. Have ordered the motor though.
