I've had the same error and removed the punch unit....wound the motor back into HP and it fixed the issue...HOWEVER...I also found a set of small plastic guide wheels that had fallen out of...ummmm..."somewhere" and were blocking the travel of the Punch unit.
I removed the rollers from the paper path and as I said...wound the motor back into it's HP,reinstalled and it's run fine ever since.

As suggested by teebee, I unpluged the punch unit & it started working, but when I again pluged the punch unit, it gave a grinding noise, checked throughly & found a stationary pin stuck inside the punch unit (Oh, these stupid customers). So finally found the fault, now it is working fine.
Thanks to all for the suggestions.
      JASPI.
