File Format Converter. Anyone ever used one? Do they work on every machine? I have plenty of users wanting their stuff off of one Document Server to the New Machine they get, but Ricoh says the File Format Converter option is what is needed.

I assume that you're looking for something that you can automate.
For the "manual" situation, applications like IRFanview can open every type of file I could think of and then re-save is as whatever file type you want.
But definitely not automated. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I have used the 'Type B' File Format Converter. You will need it on some models (specifically the ones that don't have the download option on the Document Server's WIM interface. The file format is natively stored in a proprietary format. On some older models the converter was included in software (slow but free), later to be replaced by a faster hardware option.
It's a PITA to have to download all the files (one at a time) and then 'print' them back to the document server. I encourage my customers to keep all document server contents in a folder on a PC or preferably a server for later use, as in to put them into a new machine.
This has been an issue for some time. I wish Ricoh would make it possible for one machine to automatically retrieve document server contents via the network and possibly an SP mode to do an automated transfer.Comment
