Not a tech problem or anything, but just wanted to pass along a little problem that kicked my butt one day last week.
Had a 6045 that was putting several black dots/small scuffs on the first few inches on every page. Although the mark was black, it showed up even when isolating the colors using the Custom Colors in the control panel for each color. Could not line it up with anything in the paper path or image path. Or so I thought!
Come to find out, it was toner that was built up on the center stripper finger frame of the fusing belt. The was hanging off the metal frame that the finger sits in and as the paper was exiting the fuser, the lead edge of the paper was rubbing against the toner that was beginning to remelt and hang done into the paper path.
If you have one of these models that does not have the "Auto Paper Type Detect" feature turned off and the customer has had problems fusing special paper in the past.... you just might see this one day.
