    MP C4500 Fiery

Can the Fiery be removed and the print/scan SD card installed instead?

It appears doable, never seen it done. Looking at the Fiery installation (done pre delivery) it appears you would need to remove the extension card that the Fiery plugs into, reinstall a memory dimm on the controller (1 of 2 removed during setup), and set sp5-985-001 back to "1". Then it should only be a matter of installing the print option.

        I agree with TeeBee.

I've needed to do this twice before.

The kicker is to make sure you put the memory in. If you don't, it will never work.

Imagine the service call where the customer's got a pen poking thru the ops panel...
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

            Hit it.
